Restorative Dentistry Performed with Advanced Materials and Technology
An impeccable smile builds self-confidence, improves physical appearance, and boosts clarity in speech. However, not everyone has a perfect smile. Fortunately, your smile can be reinstated through cosmetic dentistry, which is the process of enhancing the aesthetic value of one’s gums, teeth, and eventually the smile.
The most common cosmetic dental procedures in San Diego, CA include:
Dental Implants
Dental implants are small titanium posts, which your dentist will place in your jawbone. They will integrate with your jaw and replace lost tooth roots. After a few months of healing, your dentist can attach a custom-designed restoration. Dr. Shainholtz offers complete implant services, including both placement and restoration. If you have a severely damaged tooth, he can also extract it and place a same-day implant. Implant-supported restorations are very stable and they can prevent jaw recession. Implants are often incorporated into full mouth reconstruction plans.
Dentures
If you are missing a large number of teeth, or even all of your teeth, dentures can restore your bite and smile. We offer both full and partial dentures. Dr. Shainholtz will make sure that your prosthetic fits comfortably and blends in with the rest of your smile. For greater stability, we can supply implant-supported dentures. Because they rest on implants, your jaw retains bone tissue, and your implant dentures maintain a proper fit.
Crowns
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped restorations that fully cover damaged teeth. They can be a good option if you have extensive decay, a cracked tooth, or a worn tooth. Dr. Shainholtz can also use an implant-supported crown to replace a missing tooth. In many cases, we provide same-day crowns made with our CEREC® system.
Bridges
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth. Because it fills in the gap in your smile, it can also keep your other teeth from shifting out of place. We offer both traditional and implant-supported bridges. We typically recommend the latter since this type of restoration can prevent jawbone recession. It will also leave your healthy teeth intact, since your dentist does not usually need to reshape them to attach your prosthetics.
Fillings
If you have a small or medium-sized cavity, Dr. Shainholtz may recommend a dental filling. This type of restoration replaces decayed tissue, supporting the tooth and preventing further decay. Though fillings can be made from metal, our tooth-colored restorations look more realistic.
Sleep Apnea Treatment
Obstructive sleep apnea affects millions of patients nationwide and can cause difficulty sleeping and other serious health problems. If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, Dr. Shainholtz can provide a custom mouthguard that helps open your airways during sleep and breathe normally throughout the night.
